Dapoxetine ( brand name Priligy) is a short-acting selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) marketed for the treatment of premature ejaculation in men. Dapoxetine is the only drug with regulatory approval for treatment of Premature Ejaculation !
Currently, it is approved in several European countries, including Finland, Sweden, Portugal, Austria and Germany. Side Effects of Dapoxetine
Dapoxetine is a well-tolerated drug with very few side effects. None of the side effects are severe in nature. The common side effects experienced with Dapoxetine are headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, insomnia and fatigue.
Guidelines before Taking Dapoxetine
Dapoxetine can be taken without regard to food. Since it has a bitter taste, it is recommended to take the tablet in full along with a glass of water. Chewing or biting the tablet will unleash the bitter taste in the mouth. Dapoxetine is not recommended for use in patients with renal impairment and caution should be exercised if used. It is a contraindicated drug in patients suffering from hepatic impairment. Dapoxetine should not be used in children under the age of 18 years. Dapoxetine should be used only by men and should never be used by pregnant women and nursing mothers. Dapoxetine should not be administered together with other SSRI drugs or drugs with serotonergic activity. Since it has a sedative effect, one should not engage in activities that require alertness after consuming Dapoxetine pills.
What are the common dosages of Dapoxetine?
The recommended starting dosage of Dapoxetine in all men is 30 mg tablet taken once in 24 hours. It has to be taken only on a need basis and approximately 1 to 3 hours before sexual activity. The dosage can be increased to a maximum of 60 mg once in 24 hours if the desired results are not observed with 30 mg tablets.
Difference between Brand Dapoxetine and Generic Dapoxetine
There are few points of difference between brand Dapoxetine and generic Dapoxetine. Other than the name, brand Dapoxetine is costlier and comes in a specific colour and packaging. You can buy cheap Daopxetine when it is a generic variant and it is also more widely available. The generic variants are also different in size, shape, colour and certain inactive ingredients, but are equally effective as the original Dapoxetine drug. |
