When women hit the age of 50 they really start worrying about their body and any extra pounds they may have gained throughout the years, their face and even wrinkles and fine lines that really start to appear and even their level of energy. If you are feeling the same way as these women you need to remember you do not ‘have’ to feel or look your age! Exercise - It’s inevitable that we all gain at least a pound or two extra than we really need throughout the years. Exercise is great because it can help you get rid of those unwanted pounds while improving your muscle tone. Toned muscle can make you look years younger and help give you a sleeker body. It is a fact that muscle burns more calories than it does fat so if you tone the muscles you will gain more success in losing the extra pounds. 

However, exercise does more than just give you a toned body. It helps increase your stamina and energy. It gives your blood more oxygen therefore producing healthier skin leaving you looking younger. 

What kind of exercise do you need to do? There is a variety that you can do to help. Yoga is one consideration because it helps tone and shapes your body while relaxing your inner self all at once. Having a diet low in GI will also help you look and feel younger. Many diets are high in GI which creates a problem so you need to educate yourself on which foods are high in GI to avoid this. 

Foods high in GI carbs, which are unhealthy for your body include but are not limited to: biscuits, white potatoes, sugar, refined cereals, rice crackers and white bread. 

When you eat foods high in GI carbs they make your insulin spike which means you could gain weight. They also increase oxidation therefore increasing your body age including your skin. To avoid this happening, you want to avoid high GI foods and aim for foods low in GI which includes: yogurt, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and multigrain breads. This type of diet containing low GI carbs can help you stay healthy inside and out.

Many of our lives become more and more stressed as the modern day advances and many of us do not slow down and this can cause faster aging. Stress really affects our body because it increases cortisol production while decreasing DHEA production leaving your skin looking older than it really is. 

How can you slow down? Consider setting aside just five simple minutes of your busy daily life and meditate or do something that helps you relax. If you can set aside more than five minutes then do so. The longer you have the better, but just taking a few minutes a day can do wonders for your inner and outer beauty. 

Tip 4 

Enjoy yourself and things you love. In today’s modern world many people still work at the age of 50 so this can lead us to forget how important it is to enjoy the things we love doing. It’s never too late to pursue a hobby you absolutely enjoy and spend time with loved ones. 

Did you know that while doing something you enjoy is great for mind but it’s also great for your body? Anti aging hormones produce when we are enjoying ourselves while the aging hormones are reduced.
